A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin, to reduce and improve wrinkles, blemishes, pigment spots, and sun damaged areas on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
We offer a nice selection of Chemical peels in our office where after a consultation our Licensed Esthetician will determine which is best for your needs and complexion.
One of the peels we offer in our office:
THERAPLEX® SALICYLIC ACID FACIAL PEELS – 20%, 25% & 30%
A versatile, in-office, superficial peel procedure, packaged in an all-inclusive kit.
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid which is safe and effective for use in all skin types. These mild, limited depth peels do not require neutralization and because of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, create minimal discomfort for the patient.
20%, 25% and 30% salicylic acid peel kits
Theraplex salicylic acid Peels improve the appearance of:
- Photodamaged Skin
- Acne-Prone Skin
- Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
Unlike other deeper peels which can damage the skin by excessively peeling and irritating the sensitive, inner cells of the epidermis and dermis, salicylic acid peels encourage the removal of old, dead cells from the outer stratum corneum layers stimulating the renewal of underlying, younger epidermal cells and improving skin’s appearance.
In addition to improving the appearance of the skin and removing dead skin cells, salicylic acid peels are used adjunctively with acne and rosacea patients.
Minimal side effects may occur and you should take certain precautions
- Salicylic acid peels may result in occasional slight redness and mild, transitory stinging.
- Salicylic acid peels are not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.
- Salicylic acid peels are not recommended for patients allergic to aspirin or salicylic acid.
- Keep the salicylic acid solution away from and out of eyes.
No Patient Downtime.
In most cases, the patient can return to their normal activities immediately after the peel procedure.
Enzyme peels offer a more gentle solution that can be incorporated into a regular skincare regimen. These treatments can speed up natural chemical reactions in the skin that renew skin cells while exfoliating dead cells. Enzymes are also reported to diminish scars, age spots, fine lines, and discoloration, and may also penetrate the skin to cleanse pores and improve skin tone and texture. The most amazing thing about enzyme peels is that they do not damage or remove live tissue! They exfoliate ONLY dead cells, which is a big reason why enzyme peels are great for nearly all skin types. Because there is no injury to live skin, there’s no down time
